The
Greek word "Artos" means bread and "Polis"
means town we brought these words together to
complement and add to the uniqueness of Chicago's GREEKTOWN.
For centuries, the ancient Greeks believed that bread
was the begining for all great meals. We hope that the
warmth of our ovens, the fresh baked bread and the hospitality
of our staff will continue this tradition in Chicago.
ARTOPOLIS
brings today's technology together with our passion
and experience to produce a variety of freshly baked
aromatic offerings/; All of our delicacies can be enjoyed
in our Café or taken home to be savored.
There
is an old Greek saying that "Bread is a gift to all
of us." Artopolis, located in the heart of Chicago’s
Greektown neighborhood at 306 South Halsted, strives
to make their bread and food specialties the best gift
they can give their customers.
Opened just before the new millennium, Artopolis was
created to bring the true European style cafe to Chicago.
It was Created by Yianni Melidis, James Alexander and
Tony Katsoulias, owners of the successful Pegasus Restaurant
and Taverna just down the street. Artopolis literally
means "town of bread," and features artisan breads,
wood fired pizzas, signature sandwiches, delicious salads,
Greek and meditteranean entrees, creative desserts and
specialty coffees and organic teas in a modern loft-style
space with an open air kitchen. Artopolis is beautifully
designed with main floor and balcony seating for 100
persons.
